Nothing really to say, I’ll let these photographs from this morning (11/18/11) speak for themselves.

Take more time to relax and be alone. It’s great for the soul to do nothing but stare at something you love and let your mind drift away.

I had an opportunity to take a short trip to Allaire State Park on a recommendation from a friend. I’m very glad I listened because it was a great day filled with interesting history from the 1700′s, 1800′s and 1900′s. I only stayed for a few hours but could have stayed the entire day with all of the photographic opportunities this park offers the public.

Not only was everyone informative and friendly, I was able to see an old fashioned wedding being performed, I picked a good day to go. The wedding was in the on grounds church where the bride and groom were brought in by two amazing Clydesdale horses pulling a black and red, flower covered carriage. After that I went to see the old steam engine trains, some in use, some not but both were interesting.

Looking across the field I spotted a group of three deer. I quickly changed lenses and the hunt was on. I ran, ducked, bobbed and weaved my way through the woods trying very hard to stay upwind from the now larger group of five deer. They would stop and I was able to knock out a few photographs and off they went again with me following. After about 3-4 times of this happening I was running and as I stepped I heard this loud screech and thought I stepped on an animal. As I looked back carefully I stepped about one foot to the right of a fawn buried in a bed of fresh greens.  I walked slowly as not to scare it even more and took a few quick shots. It didn’t seemed phased so I put my hand out slowly and pet it’s head and back. All was good then *poof* she took off like a rocket. I followed her and got a few more shots then spotted another one bedded down in a similar bed. I took photos and spotted the parents. More photos of them and that pretty much ended an exciting and amazing experience.

It was a GREAT day and if you haven’t been I highly recommend you go. There are walking and bicycling trails, a lot to learn, food and drinks and beautiful scenery. I’ve been watching this decaying shack since I was 12 and it’s still standing. I wish a historical society would step in to save it before it’s all gone.

Off to the commercial fishing marina.

Then we headed over to the lighthouse. At some point I’d like to visit every lighthouse in the country.
